A wheel spinner you can trust
WhimWheel is a free wheel spinner for anything you need to decide by chance: picking a random name in class, drawing a giveaway winner, choosing who goes first or settling what to have for dinner. Add one entry per line, press Spin the wheel and watch the colorful wheel slow down with a satisfying tick on every segment. When it stops, a big result card announces the winner with a burst of confetti.
Every spin is decided by your browser’s cryptographic random generator before the animation starts, so each entry has exactly the same chance no matter where it sits on the wheel. Nothing you type is uploaded. You can remove winners after each spin, shuffle or sort the list, save wheels in your browser, share a wheel as a link, switch color themes and go fullscreen to project it for a room. It works on phones, tablets, laptops and interactive whiteboards.
How to use the Spin the Wheel
- Replace the sample names in Edit entries with your own — one per line. You can paste a whole column from a spreadsheet.
- Click Spin the wheel, tap the center hub or press Ctrl + Enter in the entry box.
- Read the winner in the result card. Choose Remove from wheel to draw without repeats, or tick Remove winner after each spin.
- Use Save wheel to keep the list for later, or Share link to send the exact wheel to someone else.
Popular ways to use a random name wheel

- Creators pick giveaway winners from comments with the random comment picker.
- Friends and families decide on food, movies or chores with ready-made wheels like what’s for dinner and chore roulette.
- Teams choose who runs stand-up, who presents first or which bug to fix next.
Frequently asked questions
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues, the same secure randomness browsers use for encryption, using rejection sampling so there is no bias toward any position. The animation is then steered to land on that entry.
How many entries can I put on the wheel?
Up to 1,000. Labels shrink as you add more and are hidden when slices get too thin to read, but every entry still has an equal chance.
Can I pick a winner without repeats?
Yes. Tick “Remove winner after each spin”, or press “Remove from wheel” on the result card. Use the Reset button to bring the original list back.
Are my wheels saved or uploaded anywhere?
Saved wheels live only in your browser’s local storage on this device. A share link stores the entries inside the link itself, so nothing is kept on our servers.
Can I use the wheel on a projector or whiteboard?
Yes. Press Fullscreen to hide everything except the wheel and the spin button. It scales to the screen and works with touch.
